Planning for EV Charger Installation

Site Identification & Assessment

We will visit your project site to review both the interior and exterior conditions. We will specifically review the possible locations and quantities for the charge points, routing of electrical infrastructure, existing electrical equipment, and utilities. A cellular network survey will also be performed to assess the availability and quality of cellular service at each proposed charge point location. In most cases, preliminary recommendations as to the project’s scope and approximate cost can be made following this assessment.

Building, Site, & Electrical Design

If required based on the scope of the project and/or municipal approvals, we will provide all building, site and electrical design services for scope definition and final pricing. This planning phase will ensure alignment of expectations of the final product. Design work can span from the needs of a single charge point up to a public charging facility with café, lounge, and service buildings.

Public Utility Coordination

If it is determined the existing electrical service requires an upgrade or expansion, or if a new service is required, we will work with the appropriate utility companies to coordinate all required site visits, design, and applications.

Municipal Approvals

On behalf of our clients, we will coordinate, submit application(s), and shepherd the project through any and all required approvals from the various agencies that may have jurisdiction.

Pricing & Budgeting

We always set cost expectations as early as possible. The extent of the scope of your project will determine when we can provide price certainty. Shortly following the initial assessment, we provide estimated pricing and work to lock in that amount once the project scope is finalized.

Incentive Administration

There are often incentive programs available to partially fund this work. These programs vary by location. If needed, we can help assess the available incentives and assist with making the application. Although the monetary benefits are meaningful, clients should be aware that incentives are frequently impacted by timing restrictions and as a result, the schedule may be extended.

Equipment Recommendations

In assessing the needs of any EVC (electric vehicle charging) project, we will make recommendations as to manufacturers, EVC type, and power. We also suggest equipment is specified early in the project and not changed to minimize design, utility, and approval periods.
